Series of six stereoviews of various views of the former Maple Springs Hotel, northwest of the present-day intersection of Lincoln Drive and Gypsy Lane, East Falls, Philadelphia. .49 The Maple Springs Hotel and stables at right, as seen from what is now Lincoln Drive, with Wissahickon Creek out of view, at left. "No. 644. On the Wissahickon" in bottom border, with "Photographed and Published by Kilburn..." on reverse. .50 The Maple Springs Hotel and stables at right, as seen from what is now Lincoln Drive, with the Hotel barely visible, within the stand of evergreen trees. Verso: label with "No. 78 Stereoscopic Views Published by R. Newell & Son, Photographers, Philadelphia, Pa. with list of views below. Title of view is "Hotel on the Wissahickon." C.1880. .51 A similar view, circa 1880, by Bartlett and Smith, Photographers [with stamped maker's mark towards right]. .52 A view of the Maple Springs Hotel at right, visible looking up present-day Lincoln Drive. Trees are younger/ less mature than in other views, suggesting that the photo shown here is a bit older than the others in this series, c.1870. Verso: printed label with "Photographed by R. Newell & Co. 626 Arch St. Philadelphia," with "Wissahickon Drive Phila Park" written beneath the printed text. .53 A view of a carriage pausing in front of the Maple Springs Hotel, which is behind the carriage, generally out of view. Beneath right photo, in border, is "On the WIssahickon, near Philadelphia." Right border is stamped "Langenheim." Verso: label with "Langenheim's American Stereoscopic Views."
