Description |
Photos of adaptive reuse gardens at 805 Wolcott Drive. Original gardens were designed by the Olmstead Brothers for Mr. and Mrs. Charles Henry, owners of the Stonehurst estate (demolished French chateau-style mansion built in 1887 as a wedding gift from Henry Houston). Sallie Houston Henry was the daughter of Henry Houston; she married Charles Wolcott Henry. In 1988, Ron and Roberta Berg bought the 805 Wolcott property from the Natural Lands Trust (one of three parcels). Their parcel included remnants of the Stonehurst garden. Photos 1 - 7 show the Berg's house and garden during the blizzard of 1993. Photos 8 - 14 show the garden and improvements (including original statuary and added wooden gates and fencing) in 1997. Photos 15 - 24 show house and garden features (undated). Photos 25 - 27 show the restored fountain in 2000. |
